Dinosaurs are a hoax

I must have been 10/11 years old. Sat in Sunday service like always. each week a member of the congregation was asked to speak and this was often about anything of their choice as long as it’s based on the beliefs of the church. Well that day I was to be totally gobsmacked by some news. When Jeremy, a well respected man (so I thought) of around 60 years old, spent his talk time telling us about how the dinosaurs never existed. You can imagine how my attention was unusually grabbed, Having had the awesome experience of seeing the blockbuster Jurassic Park And being enthralled by the idea of these giant beasts ruling the planet. I was very disappointed as he continued to explain his theory that no mention of dinosaurs happen in the bible or the book of mormon, so it can’t be true. That the bones are placed there to trick us. And all scientific reports Of such cannot be trusted.

When I got home I asked my mum why he said that and was it true, she replied “oh don’t listen to anything that crazy old man says” and that was it.

But how can I not trust him? Mother, you bring me to church every week without fail to hear the message of god through who ever is chosen to speak that day. I was totally confused but decided that dinosaurs could Not have been real, I probably believed this well up to my teens.

Just a funny memory I have, it makes me laugh. Poor crazy Jeremy, at least I believed in him for a while!
